Kakudan Time Machine is a Children's and Youth Education Program. The word “kakudan” means culture and customs in the Paiwan language. The program hopes to use the meaningful culture of indigenous peoples to carve out a practical way forward and reinvigorate the culture.
Taiwan's indigenous peoples have lived on this land for eight thousand years. Despite the precious cultural assets and ancient tribal wisdom left by their ancestors, due to interference from generations of immigrant Han Chinese people and a period of Japanese colonial rule, the traditional culture of indigenous peoples faces a loss of transmission and gradual decline.
Faced with a gradual decline of our traditional culture and the passing of so many indigenous elders, how can we rescue our culture? How will we educate the next generation with the right cultural knowledge and understanding? How can we pass on our cultural traditions in a clear and inspiring way?
The main aim of Kakudan Time Machine is to address these pressing questions.
