每年的8月9日是聯合國在1994年訂定的國際原住民族日,為了紀念1982年8月9日聯合國原住民族工作小組首度召開會議,這也是聯合國商議原住民族人權的起始。為了紀念這個日子,今年聯合國也按照慣例舉辦線上論壇,邀請不同國家的原住民青年代表以及全球各領域的朋友一同參與討論。今年線上論壇的主題強調「原住民族青年是實現自決的重要推手」,同時也是應對氣候變遷的第一線主力。與會者也針對三大行動方針,也就是氣候行動和綠色轉型、為正義動員以及跨世代間的連結,分享彼此的經驗與看法。
每年的8月9日是聯合國在1994年訂定的國際原住民族日(International Day of the World's Indigenous Peoples),今年的這一天,聯合國特別舉辦線上論壇,會議的開場致詞,聯合國原住民族議題常設論壇主席就以急遽惡化的氣候變遷作為警惕。

根據聯合國的數據,全球原住民族人口約4.7億人,橫跨90個國家,約占全球人口5%,7千多種語言、5千多種文化,然而放大檢視原權的落實,還有很多進步的空間。
